I'm currently playing the role of Ken in a production of RED at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the 2010 Tony award winner for Best Play by John Logan. The play centers around the Abstract Expressionist painter Mark Rothko (played by Brian Dykstra) and his assistant Ken as they work on his mural commission for the Seagram Building. Directed by Steven Woolf, the play runs in St. Louis until 10/2, then transfers to Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park 10/15 - 11/12.
As part of the press for RED at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the cast and director gave this interview to Maria Altman for 90.7 WKMU. I answer a few questions about 5 minutes in.
Brian Dykstra (who plays Mark Rothko in RED) and I got up early to do a segment for KTVI FOX 2 in St. Louis. During the action of the play, we prime a huge 9'x7' canvas; on air, we helped anchor Tim Ezell paint a much smaller version. An early morning, but fun. See the clip below: |
